Austin Attractions

Austin attractions are to many the finest in the state, and that’s saying a lot with Dallas and Houston to compete with. Mainly because of its designation as the capitol of the state, as well as its fantastic natural location and abundances, there are too many attractions for us to list here, and maybe for you to fit in a vacation schedule. We love the amazing number of green spaces to explore. Some of the best include Zilker Park and Mount Bonnell. And no trip to Austin is complete without a stop at the Barton Springs Pool. For some man-made attractions, as well as some historical relevance, check out the State Capitol building, and the Elisabeth Ney Museum. And, as Austin loves its art, don’t miss the outstanding Museum of Art. These are just a few of the incredible sights to visit in the city. Check out our list of just a few of our favorite Austin attractions below....click here for a list of Austin Attractions.

Austin Restaurants

Austin restaurants will be one of the highlights of your trip. Just as its residents appreciate fine art, great music, and good times, so it follows that every section of the city features some fabulous restaurants. Of course, Mexican, Tex-Mex, and barbecue are staples of an Austin diet, but you’ll also discover a surprising amount of dining diversity. Everything from Italian to French, Spanish to Middle Eastern, Asian to Caribbean, and all epicurean points in between can be sampled at these tables, and we highly recommend doing so. As for pricing, dining in Austin can cost anywhere from pocket change for a quick taco, to a family-budget sized meal at national chain restaurants, and right up to breaking the bank for the finest in five star meals and service. And you never have to look or travel far for your next great meal with eateries around just about every corner. Austin restaurants give you all the choices!...click here for a list of Austin Restaurants.

Austin Events

Austin events will fill your vacation calendar with the kind of excitement and entertainment you’ve been longing for. Month in and month out, Austin has something going on, and great things planned. With year round activities, celebrations, and festivities, the fun never seems to stop. We like the spring months for the fabulous outdoor festivals and events. Eeyore’s Birthday Party, the citywide Cinco De Mayo celebration, and Austin’s fabulous fine Arts Festival would keep any vacation action-packed. In the fall and winter months, enjoy the cooler temperatures and the renowned City Limits Music Festival, the Carnival Brasillero, the Celtic Festival and the now famous South by Southwest Media, Music and Film Festival. With events for every interest, and activities for every age range, and something planned for every schedule, you can’t go wrong with Austin events. We’ve listed just a few of our favorites. But be sure to check with your hotel for a full listing....click here for a list of Austin Events.

Austin nightlife is legendary. Why? Known as the Live Music Capitol of the World, every block seems to have the best live music and the best place to hear it. And every kind of music can be enjoyed, including country. From cutting edge to blues, jazz to rock, rock-a-billy to hip-hop, it’s performed live in Austin. But if live music isn’t your thing, you have plenty of other great options for great nightlife here as well. This city has numerous dance clubs with DJ’s blasting out the best bump and grind around. Or, get to any of the city’s great corner bars, where the crowds are lively and the drinks keep coming. For you culture lovers Austin is home to world-class opera, dance, live theater, and classical music. Every passion, stamina, and price range can be accommodated on a nightly basis. Austin Recreation

Austin recreation is probably the most varied in the state. Not only are the landscape and climate perfect for all kinds of outdoor recreation, the city’s attitude is one healthy respect for both self and environment. A great place to start is any of the city’s numerous green spaces and lakes. The Highland Lakes provide ample opportunity for fishing, sailing, swimming, and boating. Some of our favorite parks include the Zilker, Covert, and Slaughter Creek Parks. Biking is huge in this city, and we recommend the Veloway bike and skate trails at Slaughter Creek Park. We also had a great time at the city’s great public golf courses. Try the Hancock or the Lions courses. And the public tennis courts are all easily accessible and great fun, especially the Pharr Tennis Center. And, where else in Texas can you enjoy spelunking? But we’ve only scratched the surface. Below, check out our list of some of our favorite Austin recreation....click here for a list of Austin Recreation activities.

Austin Shopping

Austin shopping has some incredible retail opportunities in stores for you! This is a city that does not only appreciate the finest, but it loves to find a good bargain as well. And, with shopping venues all over the city and beyond, you are always moments away from your next great buy. For those who prefer the mall experience, the city never disappoints here. We love the huge Barton Creek Square Mall, and the only slightly smaller Arboretum. Another great place for the all day shopping experience is the Highland Mall. But Austin also has a fabulous variety of specialty stores spread throughout the city. Harold’s Discount Barn is our favorite, and you’ll love the deep discounts and friendly service. Toy Joy is the place for all things fun. And be sure to check out the Austin Flea Market. Austin shopping is always within reach, always within your budget, and always a great time. Check out our list below....click here for a list of Austin Shops.

Austin tours have a reputation for getting around. And you’ll be glad they do as millions have taken these incredible tours, and have come away with great stories to tell. Accommodating any schedule, interest, group size and price range, these companies can get anyone to the best of Austin in moments. We recommend starting with any if the great historical walking tours. The Conventions and Visitors Bureau has some of the best guides, and we also like the guides with the Austin Ghost adventures. Either of these will give you a good background to the city, But if less walking and more moving are on your mind, take the Segways to check out the city in style. For you water lovers, Austin offers numerous ways to check out the city by cruise, and if you can’t make up your mind between land and water, take the Ducks.
